Pep Guardiola: I Don't Want Contract Rebel Dani Alves To Be Unhappy At Barcelona

Pep Guardiola has claimed he does not want to keep Dani Alves at the club if it will make him unhappy.
Pep Guardiola has addressed the media today ahead of Barcelona's Copa del Rey encounter with Almeria at the Camp Nou, and addressed the contract situations of Dani Alves, Eric Abidal and Thiago Alcantara.

The experienced first team duo of Abidal and Alves are able to discuss terms with other clubs in 12 months' time, while young prospect Alcantara’s deal expires in the summer.

Guardiola spoke firstly of Alves, saying: “We have talked about it with Dani, I told him how I feel, and I do not want him to stay here while he is unhappy. He deserves to ask for what he wants, and the club has the right to give it, or not. I want him to be happy here, or anywhere.

On Abidal, he added: “The club is aware, I think that he will renew, and we want him to continue here because he is a very important player for us.”

The tactician however said that there was no possibility of Alcantara moving on, saying simply: “Thiago is not moving. Next year he will be in the first team. He stays.”

Guardiola then turned his attention to the match in hand, and is sure that the clash will be somewhat different from the 8-0 annihilation his team handed out to the Andalucians last November.

He stated: “Almeria are now in a different dynamic, they have drawn at home to Madrid, and they have not lost a cup tie in their last four or five games. We are prepared. 8-0 is a result that rarely happens.”
