Real Sociedad have officially unveiled their first signing of the January transfer window, with Vadim Demidov finally completing his move from Rosenborg.
The Norwegian international’s current deal with the Troillongan expires on December 31, 2010, and the Primera Division side have swooped to secure Demidov on a deal until June 2013.
The 24-year-old was presented to the San Sebasitan public, and the player stressed his desire to emulate countryman Bjorn Tore Kvarme, who enjoyed three season in the Basque country from 2001 until 2004.
He remarked: "Kvarme gave me very good references and I know that he left with great memories here when he played for three seasons. I will try to live up to them."
Demidov was born in the Latvian capital of Riga, and his famous father, handball coach Sergei, took him to Scandinavia where he begun his football career at the age of just 16 with Sandefjord.
Sociedad's sporting director, Lorenzo Loren, said of the club's new arrival: "He is a versatile player who can play in midfield, but his value for us is in centre of defence, because he is physical and powerful in the air."
