Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente has confessed that he hopes to remain with the club next season, despite transfer speculation linking him with a move away from San Mames.
Real Madrid have repeatedly been linked with a move for the Spanish international, who has been in hugely impressive form for both club and country so far this season.
Tottenham Hotspur are also speculated to be interested in the 25-year-old’s services, but despite the transfer talk, Llorente told the media today that he hopes to still be in the white and red of the Basque club next season.
He commented: “It has been a wonderful year for me, and I would like to repeat it. I hope to be back here next year. I hope to be with Athletic Bilbao. I have heard nothing about Real Madrid wanting to talk.”
Llorente has netted 10 goals in 14 Primera Division appearances this season, as well as netting three in two in Spain’s recent Euro 2012 qualifying fixtures. The powerful forward is Athletic Bilbao's highest ranked player at number 116 in the current Castrol Rankings.
