Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has praised the recent performances of Real Sociedad, as he prepares his team for the visit of the Basque club to the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.
The San Sebastian club have made an impressive return to the top flight after achieving promotion at the end of last season, and currently are in contention for the Europa League spots in the table.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Guardiola said of Martin Lasarte’s players, “They have been a very great surprise, and we will have to take much care against them. Scoring goals has been a key factor of this team for two or three years now, and we must be prepared, because at any moment we can suffer from an uncomfortable situation.”
Guardiola also spoke about Barcelona’s record-breaking sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation, adding that the agreement makes economic sense.
He continued, “We must take into account that the numbers at the club are not quite right, and I am hoping that they will recover and improve. I spent two years of my career in Qatar, and it is much more open than people think.”
Finally, on this weeks Champions League draw, Guardiola identified the teams that he will hope to avoid, saying, “I do not want the French sides Marseille or Lyon. They are very strong, and I do not like them.”
