Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros wants to see his side put to bed their below-par away record by defeating Real Sociedad this evening in San Sebastian.
The tactician leads Los Leones into the first Basque derby for three years looking to leave with the points and improve his side’s Europa League aspirations.
Marca reports that Caparros said of the match: “We know that we have to get a good result and we will try to beat our closest rivals to give our fans a double joy.
“We will face a rival who will want to defeat us. But for our part we want to break our poor away run. The important thing is that we are very disciplined. I expect a festival of football, with a lot of rivalry on the pitch.”
Caparros also briefly discussed the issue of Xabi Castillo, who faces punishment for a drink-driving offence, adding: “There is a procedure which the club has invoked and the player is willing to recognise the facts. There is not getting away from it, everyone makes mistakes, and now the player will want to do his best.”
