Athletic Bilbao announce agreement of new contract with goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz until 2015.
Bilbao's official website confirms that the shot-stopper, whose current deal at San Mames was due to expire next summer and would have been free to discuss terms with other parties in January, has committed his future to the club by agreeing a four-season extension.
Iraizoz began discussions with over the possibility of a new deal last June, but the protracted negotiations led to the 29-year-old being linked with clubs of the stature of Barcelona and English Premier League side Arsenal.
However, the improved and extended agreement ties him to Los Leones until he is 34 years of age.
Iraizoz moved from Espanyol to the Basque country in the 2007 after being regarded as second-choice to Carlos Kameni, and has established himself as one the club’s most consistent performers.
