Fernando Amorebieta and Aitor Ocio ruled out of Athletic Bilbao's weekend match versus Villarreal.
The experienced defensive pairing have failed to recover from their respective complaints in time to face the Yellow Submarines at El Madrigal, leaving coach Joaquin Caparros with a personnel headache ahead of the match on Sunday.
Both players were once again absent from training today, with Amorebieta’s slight muscle tear requiring further rest, while Ocio has tendonitis and has not yet recovered.
Meanwhile midfielder Carlos Gurpegui claimed that he has a “good feeling” about the trip to face the third-placed team, who are now unbeaten in their last eight matches, telling journalists: “Sunday’s game is a big game, to allow us to take a small step forward, to beat a team near the top of the table to continue these good feelings we’ve been having.
“Villarreal have a quality that is known by all, and they will be strong and confident, and it will be important that we remain strong defensively throughout.”
