Zaragoza coach Jose Aurelio Gay proud of team's display in securing a draw away to Valencia at the Mestalla.Zaragoza coach Jose Aurelio Gay has declared himself proud of the efforts of his players in their battling 1-1 draw with Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday evening.
The visitors took the lead thanks to a Maurizio Lanzaro goal, but the defender unfortunately struck at the wrong end on the stroke of half-time, and the match ended in a tie.
But Gay was pleased with the efforts of his team, and, speaking to the media afterwards, he commented: "In the second half we have been risky and searched for the three points, but we have improved. We are together and I have the feeling that we will improve. If we compete well, we will win games."
Gay also offered his opinion on the decidedly harsh decision to dismiss Blanquillos substitute Ander Herrera for a trip on Valencia midfielder Juan Mata, adding: “It is the fourth expulsion we have had, and we are not a team that kicks opponents.
"Carlos Delgado Ferreiro is a good referee, but perhaps he has had an error in the assessment of the decision."
Zaragoza remain without a victory in the Primera Division this season from their nine matches played.
