thumbnail Hello,

Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi confirms he feels he has fully recovered from his ankle injury.

Barcelona’s returning star Lionel Messi has confirmed that he emerged from his comeback versus Rubin Kazan unscathed, and he is not in any pain from his ankle injury.

The Argentine had been missing for 10 days following his much-publicised altercation with Tomas Ujfalusi at the Vicente Calderon, but arrived as a second half substitute as the Blaugrana played out a 1-1 draw with Russian champions Rubin Kazan.

His recovery appeared to show no ill-effects, and he briefly commented to journalists after the match that he felt ready to resume normal business.

He stated: “I’m extremely content with my ankle. I am happy with it. It has not bothered me and I have not noticed any pain.

“We knew that Rubin would make things very difficult for us. They play well together at the back and they have also scored a penalty against us. Perhaps we lacked some fluency in our attack in order to find holes in a defence as tight as theirs.”

Strike partner David Villa is suspended for this weekend’s encounter with Mallorca at the Camp Nou, meaning Messi is fully expected to make his return to the starting line-up against the Islanders.
