Getafe full-back Mane has responded to Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho’s recent comments on Pedro Leon, cheekily remarking that when the pair were colleagues at the Azulones last season Leon "played like Diego Maradona or Zinedine Zidane".
Mourinho responded harshly during a press conference on Monday evening when asked why Leon had not travelled with the squad for the Champions League match against Auxerre tonight, saying that the player was "not Maradona or Zidane" in justifying his actions.
However, in a press conference today Mane spoke of his experience of playing alongside Pedro Leon during the 2009-10 campaign, saying: “I can say that I spent a year with him, and while he was here he seemed like Maradona or Zidane.
“People will say that this is Getafe, and not Real Madrid, and of course if he does not play then he cannot prove if he is Maradona or Zidane. Let me tell you that this is my opinion, and I am only a human being like anyone else.”
Mane was talking this afternoon before heading out to Switzerland to face Young Boys in their next Europa League encounter.
