Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Joel Robles believes the club must take it one game at a time, starting with Saturday's trip to Athletic Bilbao.

Young Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Joel Robles has answered questions today as to whether he believes the club are capable of challenging Barcelona and Real Madrid this season, and is insistent that los Colchoneros must think on a game-by-game basis.

The Vicente Calderon side have begun the season well, with their European Super Cup triumph over Inter being followed up by a convincing 4-0 win over Sporting Gijon in their opening league game of the season.

However Joel, who is the current understudy to David de Gea between the sticks for Quique Sanchez Flores’ side, feels the focus should only be on the trip to San Mames on Saturday evening.

“We must be aware and be realistic, we have had a good start, we must be calm, and we need to start thinking Sunday to Sunday, and not of any alternative. We are a great team, and most importantly we need to be competitive," the 20-year-old said in the press conference

In addition, Joel regards Athletic Bilbao to be dangerous opposition, one that will prove to be a real test to their credentials.

“They [Bilbao] are a great team and it is difficult to play them in San Mames, but we are calm. If we get a good start, we can hopefully get the three points.”
