Former Spain Coach Luis Aragones: Barcelona Are Best; Real Madrid Are Closer To Atletico Madrid & Valencia

Former Spain coach Luis Aragones has stated his belief that Real Madrid are a significant level behind Barcelona in the race for this season’s Primera Division title.
Jose Mourinho has arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with the instruction to wrestle dominance from the Catalan giants, who have collected successive La Liga titles.
However Aragones, who guided La Furia Roja to Euro 2008 glory, believes that despite Los Blancos’ best efforts to improve, Barcelona remain the superior force in Spanish football.
Sport reports that the experienced boss said: “Barcelona are better that the rest, and they are the favourites. I see [Real] Madrid in second, but far behind. Atletico Madrid or Valencia may be of the level of Real Madrid.
Aragones also discussed his decision to exclude Madrid legend Raul from the international scene following the fateful defeat to Northern Ireland in Euro 2008 qualifying, and stated that he had no fall-out with the striker, who is now playing in Germany with Schalke.
He explaine: “I never had a problem with Raul, or anyone else. He was a great player, one of the best Spanish players in history, but there came a time when the selection became too big for him.”
