Barcelona To Create 'Code Of Ethics' To Improve Financial Management
Barcelona announce plans to introduce code of conduct to protect the club's image in the wake of criticism of former president Joan Laporta.

Barcelona have announced that they have formulated a “code of ethics” to prevent any future financial mismanagement, following the recent revelations regarding Joan Laporta’s extravagant expenditure during his time as president.
Laporta, who was replaced in office by Sandro Rosell at the end of last season, has been the subject of scrutiny in recent weeks regarding the superfluous nature of monies paid to players and other associated expenses.
Now the Blaugrana have acted to ensure greater transparency and prudency in their outgoings, and to eliminate any acts which violates the club’s image.
Policy spokesman Toni Freixa told Marca, “In parallel with a code of ethics it will create a commission of control, consisting of a board and renowned individuals from business to ensure good governance of the entity.”
Freixa also promised that the process of reforming the statutes of the club will soon commence, and for a period the club will allow supporters to provide suggestions as to how the articles of the club may be reformed.
A special meeting is expected to be held in either March or April 2011 to incorporate the changes.
