Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has hailed the arrival of international team-mate Javier Mascherano at Camp Nou as an "incredible" signing for the Spanish champions.

The Argentina captain signed in a €22 million switch from Premier League side Liverpool last month and centre back Milito, who recently returned to the international fold, has declared that the 26-year-old midfielder will adapt quickly to the Barca setup.

"We really hoped it would happen. It is an incredible strengthening to the side. He will be very useful. We all know the capabilities of 'Masch', and we know what he is like as a person," he is quoted as saying by Sport.

"He will adapt very quickly. I did not speak with him during the negotiation, I thought about calling but knew he would be in the midst of all this and I did not want to bother him. Now we have talked about things and will continue doing so."
