Valencia midfielder Mehmet Topal has warned his team-mates not to expect an easy ride when they get their UEFA Champions League campaign underway next week away to Turkish side Bursaspor.
The 24-year-old Turkey international stopper noted that the Turkish fans in particular can prove very influential but also commented that he believes los Che have the squad to compete with anybody this term, insisting that his side won't make things easy for "group favourites" Manchester United.
"If we think it's going to be an easy game, we're wrong. Also, when the stadium is full, the fans in Turkey, creating a very hot and forceful atmosphere. The Turkish teams rely heavily on their fans and the Turkish fans are special on these occasions," he told Super Deporte before insisting that they can fight for first place in Group C.
"We have a great team and I think we can be very competitive. Our opponents are not going to get things easy from us. We have great players and I think there is a squad that can do important things this season. We are working at a good level but we continue to grow every day.
"It's difficult because all the teams are strong and have great experience in Europe. The favourite is Manchester [United] but we will not make it easy for them and will fight to be first."
