Villarreal Must Make Amends For Opening Day Defeat - Striker Nilmar
Nilmar wants Villarreal to bounce back from their defeat to Real Sociedad and defeat Espanyol in their next outing.
By Paul Macdonald
The Yellow Submarines sank without trace in San Sebastian, losing to a Xabi Prieto goal as the newly-promoted Basques celebrated victory.
The Brazilian record signing knows that only a convincing win over Espanyol at El Madrigal in their next match will compensate, telling journalists: “It is always bad to start with a defeat, but that is solved by winning at home to Espanyol to engage a run of positive results.
“Personally, I want to try to score as many goals as possible.”
Nilmar also remains hopeful that after travelling to South Africa with the Brazil squad he can continue to represent the yellow of his nation as well as that of his club.
He continued: “What I have to do now is work hard at Villarreal and hope [Brazil] call me again. I like to play, and always try to be ready for the next match in case the coach needs me.”
