The Lithuanian was speaking to Radio Valencia yesterday afternoon after completing his transfer, and in addition to revealing his satisfaction at moving to Los Che, he also commented that he had rejected other offers in order to play at the Mestalla.
The 29-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla, said: “I have several offers, but from the moment it arose, I knew that I wanted to go to Valencia. For me, it is an honour to join this club.
“I was very happy with my time in Seville and wanted to return to Spain, and what better team than one of the greats. I got the call on Monday and the deal was done in hours.”
Stankevicius is currently on international duty with Lithuania due to face Scotland on Friday evening, and claimed that he is currently 100% fit for the new season.
He added: “I completed my pre-season with Sampdoria and played the two previous matches in the Champions League. I am at 100%. It is a shame that I cannot compete in the group stages with Valencia, but hopefully I can get involved later.”
