The Argentine agreed a mutual termination of his contract with former club Sevilla, which allowed the Barcelona side to swoop to secure the ex-Deportivo la Coruna midfielder on a one-year contract.
The 31-year-old was unveiled yesterday and, speaking to journalists this afternoon, Duscher stated his reasons at joining the fourth Primera Division team of his career.
He said: “I come to a team that is eager to do important things. They are doing well, and we hope to produce great achievements. As the days go past, we will see what we can do this season. We will go as far as possible.
Duscher said that his 10 years of experience in Spain will allow him to slot easily into the Espanyol side, and will be able to offer his expertise in order to help the team and in particular coach Mauricio Pochettino.
He remarked: “I will give my opinion and experience. In time I will do a good job for Espanyol, I am here for the coach when he needs me. The most important thing is that I have the desire to do things right. I hope to help the coach.”
