Ronaldo is understood to have suffered severe bruising to his right ankle and will have to undergo further examination on Monday, which could result in him being withdrawn from the Portugal squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Cyprus and Norway.
Diarra could also be a worry for France after he suffered a hamstring strain on his right leg. He will also undergo tests at Madrid's training ground in Valdebebas on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.
UPDATE 14:30 CET: After undergoing a medical examination this morning, Ronaldo has been diagnosed as having suffered a bruised bone in his ankle, and is expected to be out of action for up to three weeks.
CR7 has injured the same right ankle that kept him out of action for two months last season, but the current compliant is not correlated to his injury from last year, although Ronaldo will be required to rest.
The Portuguese is expected to miss the clash with Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu on September 12, and also the first Champions League match of the season against Ajax three days later.
