Valencia coach Unai Emery is wary of the threat posed by Malaga ahead of their Primera Division clash that kicks off the new season.
Los Che travel to Andalucia looking to begin the new season with a victory, but face a tough test in the form of the Boquerones, who thumped Atletico Madrid 3-0 at La Rosaleda on the opening day of last season.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of Saturday’s match, Emery remarked, “Malaga are a team of good players, and they have also made signings which will be important in their season. Valencia are facing this clash with respect.
“We have analysed Malaga, and in coach Jesualdo Ferreira they have a coach with good ideas that are new to the team.”
Emery also admitted that he has considered employing Dutchman Hedwiges Maduro in a central defensive role, one that he filed in emergencies last season, but refused to divulge any details about his starting line-up.
He concluded, “I want everyone to be prepared for the match, so I do not announce the [starting] eleven. I create a team, and everyone in the team has to know what to do, whether or not they play.”
