Los Blancos begin their campaign with a tough trip to the Islanders, who have undergone drastic change during the close season, with former charge Michael Laudrup now in los Barralets' dugout.
On Madrid’s official website, the Argentine attacker comments that the pressure is on from the first minute of the season.
“It is going to be a very difficult match. It is important to begin La Liga with victory, and we must go in with desire, pride and with intent to win the match," Higuain said.
“It is a team that I usually score against, and hopefully Sunday we can continue putting goals past Mallorca.”
Higuain also discussed his excitement for the new season, adding he believes this current set of players are capable of great success, and hopes that Racing Santander can cause Barcelona to suffer an early season setback.
He claimed, “We have a team that can aspire to everything. However, it is necessary to go little by little at this early stage, with a new coach.
“Hopefully there will be a surprise [in Santander], but Barcelona are a great side and they will also want to start well.”
