Atletico Madrid Midfielder Simao Targets Top Four Finish In La Liga
The Portuguese believes it is a minimum requirement for the season...

Speaking to reporters ahead of Friday’s European Super Cup tie with Inter in Monaco, the Portuguese believes that the exit of Sevilla at the hands of Sporting Braga has served as a wake-up as to the difficulty in qualifying for the Champions League.
The 30-year old added that the league performance has to improve from next season in order to achieve this, saying “The target cannot be anything other than finishing in the top four. We want to change what we did last season. We have to get into the Champions League because we have a good squad. We have players with ambition.
“It’s very important to note what happened to Sevilla versus Sporting Braga. We are different machines, but it is a mirror into which we can look.”
Simao also passed comment on the prospect of facing European and Serie A champions Inter, and reckons that solid defending is the key to victory.
He claimed, “We have to defend well and this does not mean having eleven men behind the ball, but to be well positioned on the pitch. Against a team such as Inter, failure to do this can cost you the game.”
