Malaga Midfielder Duda Faces Two Months Out After Pubis Operation
The Portuguese faces an extensive spell on the sidelines...
By Paul Macdonald
The 30-year-old, who represented Portugal in this summer's World Cup in South Africa, will be operated on today, and the general recuperation period for such an injury is between eight and 10 weeks.
Malaga’s club doctors carried out additional tests in order to determine the scope of the injury, and after consultation with a number of specialists, decided that surgery was the only option to mend the complaint.
Osteitis Pubis is characterised by an inflammation of the pubic symphysis, which is the joint connected to the end of the pelvic bone, and is caused by excessive physical strain on the pubic bone.
The injury is a common one among professional sports stars, and can become progressively painful particularly when changing directions quickly.
Duda's spell on the sidelines comes as a blow to coach Jesualdo Ferreira as he prepares his new squad for the season ahead, with their opening La Liga encounter versus Valencia on Matchday 1 just days away.
