Real Madrid Tell Jose Mourinho To Turn To The Cantera For A Back-Up Striker
It looks as though Jose will not get an extra striker...

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been told by the club to look for a back-up striker in the B' team, Real Madrid Castilla.
Los Blancos director-general Jorge Valdano said earlier in the week after the purchase of Mesut Oezil that the club had now completed the summer signings this year. However, Mourinho interjected yesterday insisting that he still wants to bring in a new No. 9 to act as cover for the only two experienced and natural strikers in the squad, Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema.
But according to AS, Madrid have now told the ‘Special One’ that he will have to rely on the cantera to bring in an extra striker to the first-team squad. Two names who have been mentioned are Alvaro Morata, who is currently in Japan with Spain for the Japan U-19 International Tournament, and Joselu.
Madrid have spent €74 million in the transfer market this season to sign Oezil, Sami Khedira, Pedro Leon, Ricardo Carvalho, Angel Di Maria and Sergio Canales and it is believed that the ‘White House’ hierarchy are not willing to splash any more cash, despite Mou’s insistence over the past few weeks to sign a No. 9.
In addition to Raul’s departure from the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid have also sold one of their young strikers from the B’ team last season, Rodrigo, who featured for Spain’s U-19 side in the recent European Championships, to Benfica for €6 million.
