Valencia's Juan Mata Believes The Club Will Thrive On Pressure This Year
New players, same result the target for Los Che....
By Andrew McLean
Valencia will begin their first season in five without influential hitman David Villa to lead the line. After his departure to Barcelona this summer, as well as David Silva's move to Manchester City, the pressure is on the young shoulders of Valencia forward Juan Mata.
Mata himself believes that the signings that Valencia have made this season have a point to prove, led by Roberto Soldado and Artiz Adruiz.
When asked about the added pressure on Valencia and Mata to score the goals tallies of Villa and Silva, Mata told AS: " I like pressure, it makes every player improve and this season I hope we can achieve our objectives.
"It is a new project with some very important players now out of the team, but now with different characteristics in our signings, all of a high level, we hope to maintain the level shown last year.
"We always have a desire to play Champions League and at the same time we will work and rotate to compete on three fronts.
"For the league Barcelona and Real Madrid are the top contenders, but we will compete with everyone," said Mata.
