As reported by Marca, Real Madrid centre-back Pepe has returned early from his summer holiday, allowed to him after his participation in the World Cup with Portugal, to return to training with his club and get a jump on the forthcoming season with new coach Jose Mourinho.

Pepe was scheduled to return in the final days of July, but the Portuguese chose to cut his vacation short and today returned to training with Los Blancos with a full head of hair at the club's training facility in Valdebebas.

The training session directed today by Mourinho revealed few surprises in terms of personnel, as six youth players training alongside members of the first team, those being Nacho, Tebar, Juanfran, Alex, and Joselu. Rico and Carvajal were unable to take advantage of another opportunity to train with the first team because of physical problems. In two days, the club will submit the list of second team players that will accompany the first team on Madrid's upcoming tour of the United States.

To finish the training session, Mourinho divided his team into two groups for a scrimmage with one team consisting of Adan (goalkeeper), Pedro Leon, Pepe, Garay, Marcelo, Diarra, Granero and Benzema, and the other team made up of Dudek (goalkeeper), Drenthe, Tebar, Alex, Morata, Juanfran, Nacho, and Joselu. Lassana Diarra and Fernando Gago also took part in the scrimmage, but Mourinho switched them between teams during the course of the session.

Of particular note was Karim Benzema's performance in training today as the Frenchman, somewhat disgruntled off the pitch in his legal troubles, scored two goals in today's scrimmage. Another noteworthy incident involved a scuffle as Pedro Leon threw an elbow that caught team-mate Royston Drenthe, but nothing came of the incident.
