Atletico Madrid Set To Sign Deportivo La Coruna Defender Filipe Luis - Report
The Brazilian full-back appears to be on his way to Atletico Madrid...
By Stefan Coerts
The Rojiblancos looked vulnerable at the back in the 2009-10 campaign and head coach Quique Sanchez Flores is desperate to add some defensive reinforcements to his squad this summer. Filipe Luis now appears likely to be the first addition to Atletico's backline.
The report suggests that Atletico and Deportivo La Coruna have been negotiating over the transfer of Filipe Luis for quite a while and that the two sides have now finally agreed terms. Atletico will reportedly pay €6m up front for the services of the 24-year-old and the remaining €6m will be spread over two installments of €3m each.
The former Ajax starlet has supposedly already agreed terms with the Madrid side and the transfer could be a done deal by the end of the day.
Filipe Luis had also been linked with European powerhouses Barcelona and Inter in the past couple of weeks, but neither of the giants made a concrete offer for the highly rated left back.
