Atletico Madrid Know Nothing Of Juventus’ Interest In Diego Forlan - Enrique Cerezo

There is no news from Turin...
Diego Forlan’s exceptional World Cup with Uruguay has pinned him to the very top of several sides’ transfer wishlists, yet Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has denied that there has been any contact made with the club over the striker.

On Thursday speculation arose in the Italian media that the former Manchester United striker could make a move to Juventus, but Cerezo has quickly moved to deny such talk.

“We have no news at all,” he is quoted as having said by Marca. “We just know that Forlan is on holiday in Uruguay.

“I think you should talk to Juve, because if it is they who are interested and have to say if they’re interested or not.”

Attention quickly turned to potential reinforcements at the Vicente Calderon, with the president decreeing Atleti to be a “buying club” this summer, despite the adverse economic climate.

“I'm always optimistic, but in the football world and the economic situation in Europe, I think we should wait, because everybody thinks a lot about what to do. Before taking a step forward, people count five or six times,” the president said, defending the slow progress los Colchoneros appear to be making this summer.

Cerezo has targeted a top four finish this season for the capital club, and he hopes to pin down Stade Rennais right-back Rod Fanni and left-sided Brazilian Filipe Luis from Deportivo La Coruna before the end of the transfer window.
