Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Adel Taarabt Claims Villarreal Want Him
The Moroccan youngster has apparently attracted the interest of Villarreal...
By Stefan Coerts
Highly rated attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt could be on his way out of Champions League hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur as La Liga side Villarreal have shown an interest in signing the Moroccan starlet.
"I still do not have a clear future. I need to speak with Spurs to clear up the situation. I have a contract with Tottenham, but it is true that Villarreal have asked about me," said the 21-year-old to the Daily Mail.
Taarabt joined Tottenham from Lens in January 2007, but has failed to secure regular first team football with the Londoners so far. He has made only nine official appearances so far for the Spurs.
The gifted playmaker was farmed out on loan to Queens Park Rangers last term and impressed with a number of impressive performances. The Championship side were not prepared to provide the financial resources to make Taarabt's stay at the club permanent though.
Villarreal supposedly face stiff competition from West Ham United and Sevilla in the race for Taarabt's signature.
