Getafe defender Daniel ‘Cata’ Diaz has put to pen to paper on a new contact which will keep him in Madrid until 2013.
An official club statement read:
“Cata Diaz has extended his contract with Getafe CF until June 30, 2013. The player has signed his contract extension and thus maintains his link with the club.”
The 31-year-old Argentinian appeared 30 times for Getafe this season, who were keen to extend his deal after months of speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
Diaz, who joined los Azulones in 2007 from Boca Juniors and had previously admitted he would be open to a possible return to La Bombonera following the World Cup, will be delighted to have finally committed his long-term future to the Spanish outfit.
