David Villa is set to be unveiled as a Barcelona player on Thursday, or at the latest Friday, after reports from the Catalan capital suggested his transfer from Valencia will be made official on Wednesday.
Club officials from both camps have confirmed that talks were at an advanced stage but it appears the newly crowned champions are keen for a swift conclusion to the talks.
There are conflicting reports on the sum los Che will receive to let their top marksman leave for Barca with Catalunya Radio mooting a figure of around €50 million while Barcelona based publications Sport and El Mundo Deportivo claim the sum is a slightly more modest €40-45 million.
All negotiations for the transfer took place over the phone on Tuesday and it is claimed that all that remains to be finalised is the method of payment with Marca suggesting that half of the transfer fee will go directly to an unnamed Valencia businessman who loaned the money to the club.
Super Deporte report that Barcelona have booked an appointment at a health centre for Friday morning, in order for Villa to complete a medical, which perhaps suggests that the player will be officially unveiled as a Barca player after completing that contractual formality.
