Spanish international Sergio Ramos intends to spend the remainder of his career with Real Madrid, saying he wishes to retire at the Bernabeu.

“This is my fifth season here and I'm very happy,” Ramos told TV programme Punto Pelota. “I would love to retire at this great club.”

The defender, who joined the club from Sevilla five years ago for €27 million, went on to discuss the run-in to the Liga season and Real Madrid's pursuit of Barcelona at the top of the table

“Both Barcelona and Real Madrid deserve to win the title,” he said.

“I hope we end up doing so. We don't depend on ourselves, but we believe Barcelona could make a mistake.”

The Blancos host Athletic Bilbao this weekend while Barca, who still sit one point clear at the top, face a difficult trip to Ramos’ old club Sevilla in the penultimate weekend of the Liga season.

“No one should ever regard Real Madrid as being dead,” warned Ramos. “There are only two games left and we are just one point behind the leaders.”
