Pep Guardiola Not Concerned If Barcelona Fail To Win The League
The Catalan coach told his team not to worry if they don't win it...
By Paul Madden
Lionel Messi inevitably opened the scoring for the champions and although Roman Martinez levelled after a rare Carles Puyol mistake, Bojan Krkic, Pedro and a second from Messi completed the rout.
"Madrid deserves to win the league and we do too, which is why I have, in these eight days, the tranquility of a job well done. I can not blame the team, or demand more. How can you ask them to win the league? If they do, great and if not, great also," he told a post match press conference.
"So I said at halftime: "Win it if you can and if not, don't worry about it." I, as a footballer, was unable to do what these guys have done. The players amaze even more if they lose the league than if they win it."
"There will be assessments made if we fail to win it, but they do not worry me. When we finish, we will be happy if we win and sad if we do not but after the eighth day we'll forget about it and say: 'It was a spectacle'."
"We have 93 points and even I can't believe it. We will have to go to Sevilla to win to be champions. This is the seventeenth consecutive game that we play every three or four days. The effort is incredible."
