Barcelona's Technical Secretary thinks that Victor Valdes could start for Spain in the World Cup...
Barcelona hung on for a goalless draw against rivals Espanyol in a frantic encounter which saw Barca's Dani Alves sent off. Valdes made three crucial saves in the first half, one effort being from Espanyol striker Osvaldo which the Spanish shot-stopper had to scramble across his goal to turn the close range effort on to the post.
The Technical Secretary told the Spanish press: "I not only think Valdes deserves to go to the World Cup but I think he could play." He also went on to praise the keepers' performances throughout the season.
With Spain one of the favourites for the World Cup and Barcelona and Real Madrid battling for La Liga, fatigue and injury might be the only thing that stops them with hectic schedules to come. Next up, Barcelona play Inter Milan on Tuesday in the Champions League Semi Final.
