Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso: We Should Not Try To Be Like Barcelona, But Try To Be A Great Team
Xabi Alonso spoke to the press in a post-training press conference...

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso refused to compare his team to Barcelona's squad in today's post-training press conference, declaring: "We should not aspire to perform like Barca, but instead to become a great team. This is a new project with new players and a new president. At the moment we are in the thick of the competition and we will know the conclusion at the end of the season. We don't need any changes."
In comments reported by AS, the Madrid midfielder dispelled the notion that the team felt that all was lost and announced: "The best way to get over the Clasico loss to Barcelona would be to beat Almeria on Thursday."
Alonso also declared that he felt that despite some pivotal losses, Madrid have had a great season. In fact, if Los Blancos claim all of the remaining points in La Liga, they would finish with a record-breaking 98 points in the table. "There are 21 points available. If, in the end, Barca win them all and we do as well, all that will be left will be to congratulate them."
