The Argentinian refutes talk of Messi-dependencia...Following his second league hat-trick in succession, Barcelona striker Lionel Messi stressed the win over Zaragoza was a team effort and denied that the champions are dependant on him for goals.
Messi fired the Blaugrana in front early in the game and followed it up with a stunning individual effort midway through the second half. He added his third a matter of minutes later and won a late penalty to complete a mesmerising display.
"It was an important game. It was difficult, especially in the first half. They played a very tough brand of football but we carried on to win the three points, which were very important," he told Canal +.
"We went to the front, we went for the game. The pitch wasn't good, the ball didn't move well but we won, that's what counts.
"I always said that this is a matter of all of us, the team did a great job, we fought all the time and luckily I score goals, but we all make it happen.
Messi also stated the importance of team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic finding the net with a late penalty.
"A striker needs to score goals and luckily was able to break this streak," he noted.
