Pick Your Real Madrid Team Against Sporting Gijon
Neither Benzema nor Kaka have entered the squad list...
By Cyrus C. Malek
Kaka and Karim Benzema are the two notable absences from Real Madrid's squad list for Saturday's match against Sporting de Gijon at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As reported by Marca, while Benzema has returned to training after having recovered from his sports hernia, he is still not yet match fit. The same has occurred with Kaka, although his injury is a muscle strain in his right leg. Mahamadou Diarra is also out of the match with a contusion in his right ankle. Marcos Alonso enters the squad as the only reserve team call-up.
Manuel Pellegrini's squad list thus consists of the following players:
Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas, Jerzy Dudek
Defenders: Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, Raul Albiol, Ezequiel Garay, Christoph Metzelder, Marcelo, Marcos Alonso
Midfielders: Lassana Diarra, Xabi Alonso, .Fernando Gago, Rafael Van der Vaart, Esteban Granero, Guti
Forwards: Raul, Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo
Please leave your ideal XI in the comments box below, using hyphens to separate positions working from right to left. For example, here is the team that could line-up in a 4-3-1-2 formation:
Casillas - Ramos, Albiol, Garay, Arbeloa - Lass, Xabi, Marcelo - Van der Vaart - Ronaldo, Higuain
¡Hala Madrid!
