Spain and Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol signs a five year deal with Los Merengues
Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol and Sergio Ramos have stressed the importance of their 4-1 win over Valladolid as they resume top spot in the Primera Liga.

A Gonzalo Higuain hat-trick and a trademark free kick from Cristiano Ronaldo set los Merengues on their way to a comfortable win at the Jose Zorilla stadium and Albiol insists that continuing to pick up three points will take them towards the title.

"We know it will be very even and whoever drops the least amount of points will become the league champion," Albiol noted at a post match press conference.

Ramos also pointed out that traditionally the Jose Zorilla can be a tricky venue for Madrid but importantly Madrid took the full spoils.

"We knew this is a venue where we can get stuck but it has been good. The elimination from the Champions League has been hard to take but these three points are important," Ramos declared.
