La Liga giants Barcelona are set to step up their bid to land Benfica winger Angel Di Maria by tabling a substantial offer to lure the player to the Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola has been searching for a long-term replacement for Thierry Henry on the Blaugrana’s left flank for some time, being linked with Valencia duo Juan Mata and David Silva, as well as their extended chase for Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery.

However, El Mundo Deportivo reports that the Catalan club have given up on the Frenchman due to the German side’s valuation of the player, and Di Maria has emerged as Guardiola’s main priority.
