Speaking in an interview with Spanish sports daily AS just hours before Real Madrid play for their Champions League lives against Lyon, Iker Casillas spoke of the importance for the fans to support their team.

"We need the Bernabeu like we need to eat. The fans are the most important quality we have and they give us the motivation to fight. I hope they are calm because we are going to respond, one can be sure of that, but we need them. Against Sevilla, one saw that the fans believed in the comeback and this inspired the players and drove us to victory."

When asked about what happened with Dragutinovic's free-kick for Sevilla's second goal, Casillas spoke of the miscommunication between him and Xabi Alonso. "I thought Xabi was going to clear it, but he did not believe he would be able to get a strong head on it. He left it for me and I was leaving it for him."

Asked what he feared in Lyon, Casillas was unequivocal in his response: set pieces. "They are very dangerous at set plays. They showed us that in the first leg. I'm worred about a set piece against the run of play, a corner on which we are not attentive. If we do not take care, they could score at any time and completely change the match."

Asked to address rumours that Raul Albiol had revealed Casillas has prohibited his squad from committing fouls near the edge of the area, the Spain No. 1confirmed the importance of being intelligent with one's fouls. "I was referring to fouls that are not clear chances on goal, against a player on the edge of the area, but with his back to goal and four or five defenders in the vicinity. If one fouls there, they can do a lot of damage."

Asked if he was aware that should he pick up a yellow card he would miss the next Champions League encounter, Casillas explained that he had thought about it, but that it does not worry him now. "One of the two that they showed me [the one in Zurich], I hadn't done anything and they showed me a yellow. If they show me a yellow card today, it will have been bad luck."

Finally, Casillas predicted a 2-0 result in favour of Los Blancos after five consecutive years of crashing out in the first round of the Champions League knockouts. "I want to stop this trend and I am confident that we can progress. We are a young team and we can give a lot of happiness to our fans."
