Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros has expressed his delight having signed a one year contract extension with the Basque outfit, extending his deal for twelve months beyond his previous agreement which was due to expire in July.

At a press conference confirming that he will remain in charge until the end of next season, Caparros said he had no doubts about his desire to remain at the helm.

"It gives me great satisfaction to have a fourth year in a club as big, important and historic," he told a press conference before looking towards enjoying the future.

"If anything, I have more hope now than the first day. We will now contine to work as before. I had no doubts. I enjoy every [training] session and this has made me enjoy being here and no doubt I will continue to do so. Now we have to aspire to new challenges."

Caparros, who took over as coach of los Leones in 2007, will become just the third coach to enjoy a four year tenure at San Mames in over sixty years following in the footsteps of Javier Clemente and Luis Fernandez and just the sixth coach in the club's history to reach a fourth year along with Frederick Pentland, Juan Urkizu and Piru Gainza.
