Remembering a Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen in which Zinedine Zidane's goal led Real Madrid to victory in 2002 - and later on to Madrid's ninth Champions League title, the former Blancos great has backed the current squad to come back from a 1-0 first leg deficit against Lyon.

In comments reported by Marca, Zidane spoke of his memory of that goal against Bayer at the Bernabeu, a goal that, he says: "nearly brought the entire stadium down. If we have a night like that one, Real Madrid will be able to do great things.

"I am convinced that they are going to come back," added the French legend.

Real Madrid host Lyon on Wednesday as they attempt to seal their passage to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, a feat they have not accomplished since 2004.
