Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted the league title is unlikely to be decided in El Clasico when his side travel to the Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid next month.
“We’ll see how important the match is,” he told FCBarcelona.com.
Barca currently sit just two points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish Primera Division and many are already talking up the match as a championship deciding fixture. Laporta however, has reminded supporters that there is a lot of football to play before then.
“If both teams keep up their current rhythm we might arrive at the Bernabeu with the same lead and it could be an important match. But something might happen before then and the Bernabeu match won’t be decisive."
The clubs are scheduled to meet on April 11th and Laporta admitted that Spanish football fans are enjoying a real competitiveness this season with both clubs in excellent form.
“La Liga is very competitive. Both teams are at a great level and the competition is really entertaining," he concluded.
