Osasuna right back and Spanish under-21 international Cesar Azpilicueta is reported to be on Barcelona's shortlist of possible transfers to the Camp Nou next summer. According to Spanish sports daily AS, the Rojillo player's recision clause for his contract could be around the €15 million range.
Barca technical secretary Txiki Begiristain has reportedly initiated talks with the youngster, who has been coveted by Spain's big clubs as well as clubs around Europe, with the intention of signing Azpilicueta as a capable subsitute for Dani Alves, should the Brazilian need to be substituted.
When Alves is out of the current Barca side, Carles Puyol usually covers the right side of defence. But as the Spanish international ages, his abilities down the flank will become limited, prompting Barca to find a suitable replacement.
Azpilicueta is a product of the Osasuna youth team and debuted with the first team in the 2006-07 season where he quickly assumed a starting position. Osasuna currently have two of the most promising right and left backs in football with Azpilicueta down the right and Spanish international Monreal down the left.
