Jorge Valdano Satisfied With Real Madrid & Manuel Pellegrini After Villarreal Victory

The Argentinian says the league may come down to goal difference...

Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano has declared himself satisfied with the performance of the team and coach Manuel Pellegrini after they trounced Villarreal 6-2 at the Bernabeu.

Valdano also defended Pellegrini's assertion that the current Merengues are the best team the club have had in 15 years and noted that the league race between them and Barcelona could come down to a matter of goal difference.

"I am very satisfied with the coach and the team. We have had a great game and we learned to play two games, which was first with much elaboration in midfield and then after Villarreal scored. We scored six goals and it could have been more. I'm totally satisfied, full of football," Valdano said, according to AS.

"The team plays in the coach's style, who has managed many things well. When he [Pellegrini] said this was the best Madrid in 15 years that related to statistical data, not opinions. But we know that when you lose come the criticisms.

"Our job is to win games and if we are playing well and scoring goals like today, all the better. The league is going to come down very little difference, perhaps because of goal difference."
