Racing Santander Fans Irate Over Suspensions For Barcelona Match
Racing fans are making serious accusations ahead of next weekend's match against Barcelona...
By Cyrus C. Malek
Racing Santander go into Saturday's match against Barcelona at the Camp Nou with a half-strength squad as both Colsa and Munitis received their fifth yellow cards of the season in the defeat against Malaga, ruling them out of the match against the Blaugrana, and Tchite was suspended for protesting a refereeing decision.
The Cantabrian club's officials are going to appeal Tchite's red card expulsion, in the hope of at least decreasing it to a yellow, but even such a ruling would be the striker's fifth card of the season, and still merit a one-match suspension.
As reported by Marca, the three Racinguistas will miss Saturday's match, but they are also feeling the ire of Cantabria for what fans believe to be a wash. By picking up their suspensions, Racing fans are accusing the players of deliberately trying to miss the match against Barca, resigned to losing the three points and instead placing their focus on the following Liga fixture against Almeria.
The Racing fans posted harsh comments on a number of online forums, prompting Racing coach Miguel Angel Portugal to declare that he did not think that, although the players were aware that they were on thin ice, they deliberately intended to pick up the cards that would rule them out of the Barca match.
