Atletico Madrid Coach Quique Flores Rues Missed Chances Against Racing Santander
Atleti's coach also praises match officials...
By Paul Madden
The game was the second of three meetings in a row between the two sides and Flores was quick to point out that the 4-0 win midweek in the Copa del Rey made it more difficult for his side to get a result today.
Diego Forlan had given Los Colchoneros the lead midway through the first half before former Atletico midfielder Gonzalo Colsa equalised ten minutes later for the Racinguistas.
"At no time have we thought about the Copa, I think it was an intense game and it was difficult for us because we were beat the same opponent 4-0 this week," Flores noted afterwards.
"We gave a serious display and had chances to win but in the end it could not be and it finished a draw."
Flores also stated that he felt referee Gonzalez Gonzalez had a good game, something his opposite number Miguel Angel Portugal did not agree with.
"The referee was very good in an intense game. I judge them [officials] with respect, because it is a very difficult profession and our duty to help them," he remarked.

And now we have some reaction from San Siro, courtesy of our man in the field Sergio Stanco...
Meanwhile, Tonde Chitonho has asked Thierry Henry to take Arsene Wenger back to the US with him!
And on the subject of Henry, Rizky Ferdiansyah humorously added: “King Henry couldn't beat the Prince Boateng!”
Joel Peeperkoorn feels that Arsenal should rest their big guns in the second leg, saying: “There's no way we can beat Milan by five goals."
Jez Cook, however, takes a different perspective, singing himself back to positivity: “FIVE FOUR we're gunna win five four we're gunna win five four we're gunna win five four ....FIVE FOUR we're gunna win five four we're gunna win five four we're gunna win five four ...FIVE FOUR - just keep repeating it.”
Well, you have to admire his fighting spirit...
Incidentally, no team has ever progressed in Europe after losing the first leg by such a heavy deficit.
