The Italian international has been given time off by his club...
By Anthony Wright
Struggling Primera Division side Villarreal have been dealt another blow in the build-up to their clash with Mallorca this weekend with the news that Giuseppe Rossi has had to travel back to the United States.
The 23-year-old Italian international, who was born in New Jersey, returned home first thing this morning due to a "serious family problem", according to Marca.
Rossi had been selected by new Submarino Amarillo coach Juan Carlos Garrido to face los Barralets tomorrow, but has been given an unspecified amount of time off by the club in order to resolve the problem.
Villarreal, who dispensed with Ernesto Valverde last week after a disappointing campaign so far, now have an even greater task ahead of them in the ONO Estadi.
Mallorca currently lie fifth in La Liga, two points away from the Champions League places, and have a perfect record at home in the league with nine wins from nine games.
