Pick Your Real Madrid Team To Face Espanyol

Manuel Pellegrini is able to call on a number of players after their recovery from injuries and Goal.com invites you to choose which of them should slot back into the starting XI...

Gonzalo Higuain, Arbeloa, Real Madrid, Mallorca (MARCA)
Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has a significantly stronger squad for tonight's clash with Espanyol after several players recovered from their respective injuries.

Top scorer Gonzalo Higuain will stake a claim to return to the starting line up after three weeks out with a hamstring injury, while there are a number of extra options in midfield. Mahamadou Diarra, Lassana Diarra, Rafael van der Vaart and Fernando Gago have all returned to training this week and they have all been reinstated to the squad list.

Guti and Alvaro Arbeloa both missed a training session earlier this week as they looked to shake off their knocks, and the move has paid dividends as they are also available. Los Blancos' squad is not entirely bereft of injuries, however, as central defensive pair Christoph Metzelder and Ezequiel Garay both miss out.

Meanwhile Cristiano Ronaldo is suspended for the clash, despite the multiple efforts of the club board to reverse the decision.

Pellegrini therefore has the following 18-man squad available:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Dudek

Defenders: Sergio Ramos, Arbeloa, Albiol, Marcelo, Drenthe

Midfielders
: Lass, Xabi Alonso, Kaka, Guti, Granero, Diarra,  Van der Vaart, Gago

Forwards: Higuain, Raul, Benzema

Please leave your ideal XI in the comments box below, using hyphens to separate positions working from right to left. For example, here is the team that could line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation:

Casillas - Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, Albiol, Marcelo - Lass, Xabi Alonso, Guti - Kaka - Higuain, Benzema
