In comments reported by Portuguese sports daily A Bola, Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has weighed in on Cristiano Ronaldo's two-match ban for a wayward elbow to the face of Malaga defender Patrick Mtiliga.

"The play is clear. Perhaps it was intended to be aggressive because he [Cristiano Ronaldo] was fouled, but for me two matches out seems very just."

Ronaldo has already called the suspension excessive and Los Blancos are anticipated to appeal the ruling.
